On Friday, August 23, 2019, the Small Business Reorganization Act (“SBRA”) was signed into law. The law represents an significant change in bankruptcy law for small business debtors, and will offer a more affordable and more efficient path to reorganization for qualifying small businesses.
Ahead of its February 19, 2020 effective date, two Bush Kornfeld attorneys will discuss the SBRA in several forums. First, on January 14, 2020, Aditi Paranjpye and Thomas Buford will make an hour-long presentation to the King County Bar Association Bankruptcy Section. On January 28, 2020 Thomas will participate in an hour-long presentation to the Alaska State Bar Bankruptcy Section. Finally, on February 13, 2020, Aditi and Thomas will participate in an half- day CLE presented by the Washington State Bar Association. Aditi and Thomas are organizing the latter presentation to be a deep dive on the Act, including its advantages, limits, and practical uses, and it will include a Judge’s Panel featuring Judge Barreca, Judge Corbit, and Judge Lynch.
